Hello SDH,
I've looked through the Newington, (Sittingbourne) census for 1841, 1851 and 1861. It's not that big a place, and I can't find anyone that you've mentioned. If you've got the family on a later census, could you post the full transcript, which will give me birth dates of the children. Also do you know when and where James and Harriet were married, as I'd guess it was probably after the 1841 census. Any extra info that you can give will help narrow down the search.
Thanks,
Carol.

Carol
Thank you for your efforts. James Wright and his family
had moved to Acton Middx by 1861 and could have left
Kent as early as 1849 but James presumably was living
in or near Newington in 1841 the year he seems to have
married Harriet Hmphrey in the Milton district
In the 1861 census
James Wright   Head      41   Newington, Kent
Harriet Wright   Wife      40   Newington, Kent
Henry Wright   Son      20   Newington, Kent
James Wright   Son      18   Newington, Kent
Thomas Wright   Son      16    Newington, Kent
Emma Wright   Daughter   14    Newington, Kent
Joseph Wright   Son      12   Newington, Kent (b 15/3/1849)

Thanks again
Stephen Harris

Hi SDH

This is a really old request so I don't know if you are still looking for this family in 1841.  I couldn't see them - do you know if they were definitely married by then only I saw a marriage reference James WRIGHT (possibly to a Harriet HUMPHRY or variants) possibly after the census?

Hi SDH

There's this birth reg which just might be Henry:
December qtr 1840, Hollingbourn 5 249
Henry Newman Humphrey

And this entry on the 1841 census: ref HO107 457-08 f5 p3; Detling Village
John Humphrey age 66 ag lab
Thomas Humphrey age 25
Harriot Humphrey age 20
Henry Humphrey age 6m
all born in county

and living next door......
James Wright age 24 M S born in county

So the marriage that Casalguidi found is probably the correct one:
December qtr 1841 Milton 5 525
James Wright
Harraott Humphry

Happy hunting,
Carol
