Hi I recall another thread re Hannah and her base born son Robert b 1834 who is shown as a Scruby aged 6 in 1841 with Philip and Hannah plus a Philip aged 3 HO107/327/5/4 So re the marriage, is it just the parentage of Philip Scruby you are after?

Hi,

Thank You K, Keyboard86, and Mark,

A little bit more background for you :

Hannah had been the victim of a bigamous marriage.

Her first two children were born before 1837 before she married Phillip.
The third a girl was born after her marriage to Phillip and her birth was registered as SCRUBY.

However, when that daughter married, she used the surname GENTRY;
and in 1881 she was visiting her father and recorded as housekeeper.
Her mother having died in 1880.

I was wondering why she was questioning the validity of her parents marriage.
Some people questioned the validity of Register Office Marriages.
Was this the case here.

So thank you Mark; if the Purleigh PR can be viewed via Seax I will look soon.

Now off to trace descendants; South of the Thames.

Regards
JonJon

To add to OlleyM's details about the marriage, both Philip and Hannah's fathers' Christian names were Abraham. Philip's father was also a thatcher. Hannah's father was a labourer.
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
