help with occupation on death cert
« on: Wednesday 05 February 14 11:31 GMT (UK) »

I'm useless with modern technology so am keeping fingers crossed that this scan works.

The occupation looks like Beadle - reminds me of Dickens but I'm probably showing my ignorance. Any help or further info will be gratefully received. Thank you.

I agree - Beadle.

What is the date of of the certificate? Is it a marriage rather than a death - with 2 fathers' names?

Hi - took a while to sort out attachment! I'm stupid - it was a marriage cert 1860! HIs son was a butler so I wondered if it was connected with service. I've not met this occupation on a certificate so far. Thanks for the help.

Have you found Richard Townsend on earlier censuses? He is deceased in 1860 - do you know when he died?

Is the son James Townsend or Joseph Townsend, who both married in St Geo Han Sq in 1860.
