Burwell in 1851?
« on: Friday 07 February 14 19:20 GMT (UK) »
wonder if anyone can help me please.
I am trying to find Oliver Carter born 1838, in the 1851 census in Burwell, but cannot find any of Burwell at all!

in 1841, he was living in North Street, Burwell Cambridge, but by 1851, Burwell seems to have vanished??
 Where has it gone to?

It may  be that  the   census  pages for  Burwell  area  may be  missing/damaged ,  I know  that    my  husbands 2x great grandfathers  family is  missing in Essex in1851  as the  census  pages   for his  village are missing/damaged     Think it's  mentioned somewhere on  line about    missing   census  data

  Found from another   site

1851 missing pages

Missing pieces of the 1851 census

In the enumeration books the following parishes and hamlets are permanently missing from these piece numbers. Some of these parishes and hamlets represent the entirety of the piece, while others are just portions of a piece.

1762

Cambridgeshire and Suffolk

Parish: Ashley-cum-Silverley

    Burwell

Doran54 you have got the correct family in 1841, sorry about my typo on Oliver's birth year. and again in 1861, but I could not find any of Burwell in 1851.

jan57, thank you for finding out about the missing parishes for me, I will just have to make do with the 20 year gap.
thank you all for your help.
