Whitebridge Infants School
« on: Monday 10 February 14 03:45 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone have any information about Whitebridge Infants School in Lonus Avenue at Whitebridge. It was open from 1944 to 1962. It closed for the opening of Whitebridge High School in 1963. I would love to see an old photo of the school house. I had walked past the neglected old building on one of my walking routes but never realised it was the old infants school. I always saw potential in the building. It has been moved to the rear of the new subdivision that now covers the land that it originally stood on. Was just wondering what it looked like when it was a school. I have found an old article in the Newcastle Herald dated 1-07-1942 which describes the building as being moved there from another location. I didn't grow up in Newcastle so I have no personal history of the area.

Hi

Maybe Lake Macquarie Library has a photo http://library.lakemac.com.au/page.aspx?vid=16

Or try  Whitebridge High School, they may have an Archive.
