Family history software problem with Windows 8 - resolved
« on: Friday 14 February 14 21:54 GMT (UK) »
I have recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8.   I can't remember if the family history software I was using has worked since I got it but it is certainly not working now, even after an uninstall and reload (My*erit*ge).   My information is backed up but I cannot get the tree builder software to open so I can add further information.   Does anyone know if there is a conflict between Windows 8 and this software?

Update - after trying the usual IT analyst suggestion of switching off and on - it's working!

Some versions of Myheritage are reported to be incompatible with Windows 8 - have a read at this on the microsoft forums which provides a possible solution
Microsoft Help Forums
about halfway down the answer there is a link to check if your version is compatible with Windows 8 (it actually is a link to the Windows upgrade assistant so may not be applicable in your case)

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.  Hopefully it has settled down now but will refer to your reply if I have similar problems again.
