Census help for 1881 and 1891 please
« on: Saturday 15 February 14 19:11 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,

Can anyone help me with the census of 1881 and 1891.

I would like to know who lived at the following address at the time of these censuses:

Violet Street 2
Poplar (London)

Would be grateful if anyone could help me out here.

Dauro...

The only Violet Street that is coming up in 1881 is in Bethnal Green.

Thank you Groom,

I'm confused..
Here is the situation:

In 1886 I find a woman called Catherine at that address.
She is there on the tenth of April with here father at the time of his death.

The name Turner doesn't ring a bell.

It is Catherine whom I'm trying to find for over two years now.
Finally I found her at this address but I don't know what she is doing there, is she married or just visiting?

So this is complicated...:-)

What does Bethnal Green say for the census 1881?

The Jones family are in Violet Street Bethnal Green in 1881.

The street in Poplar must exist in 1881 as it is there is earlier censuses.

It could be that they were renting when her father died, and after his death she moved away or maybe she married.

Thanks Jan,

My information gives 2 Violet Street, Poplar (registration district), Bromley (sub-district), Middlesex (County), so I think Bethnal Green is the one I am looking for.
