not much luck on samuel, on the 1841 census i found this.
samuel age 55, wife jane age 52. jane born brandley, staffordshire.
"the writing was poor to read, have put down best i can work out"
st. marylebone, middlesex. england.
caroline ? age 20.
annah? age 18.
richxxx? age 5.
all childern born there. came across this.
burial, for samuel thornton, 13/9/1855. age 69 parish kendal green all souls.
kensington & cheslsea. address given 9 pollen ? st. st george.
all souls cemetery. performed by, j ct heard.
the age might be wrong. bradley, staffordshire is the next one to shropshire.
have not found any marriage of samuel & jane.
do you have any other family links to samuel? deaths in or around shropshire.
this might give more to look into.
