Thomas Taylor pipemaker of New York
« on: Monday 03 March 14 19:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I'm looking for early records of Thomas Taylor who emigrated from England in 1842. By 1850 he was in Williamsburg but his wife Rebecca Lavinia had presumably died and he was married to an Amy from Connecticut. By 1856 he was in Brooklyn (Broadway near Cook) where he seems to have stayed until his death in 1871. I have him in the 1850 and 1860 census but haven't found his marriage or his first wife's death.

Any help would be appreciated,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Is it Williamsburg, Virginia and Brooklyn, New York?

My assumption would have been that the reference was to the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, but I may be wrong.

It's the Williamsburg part of Brooklyn. When he died it was in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn but this may have been the same place with boundaries moving.
