Wasn't he Henry or Harry when he was an Edwards!

I assume that Mr Devereux was a Manufacturer of hats

What a family that Irene's got mixed up in - I thought some of mine took the biscuit at times but................  ;D

I am glad they are not mine Gadget.  :)

Alfred George Devereux died in 1884 in Luton.

Henry was in the 1891 census as Edwards.

Luton was known for their Straw Hat-Boaters.

Thanks again Sandy and Gadget you are the best and I really do appreciate all the time you have spent doing this for me.

I  think its going to take me some time to put all the pieces together but regardless I shall hand over all this information to my friend to show her what great help I had.

Thank you again my friends

I'm sure I found a probate record for Alfred (died 1941) when I was playing with the new search facilities - it came up straight away  ;D  I think the probate registry was Oxford.  Will go back and find it to see who the executor was.
