You mention Midgley House that could mean they were posh and they had a bob or two (Money) - if so James could have left a Will/probate  ??? and he maybe in the post 1858 Wills index that is on Anc*stry.com. This index gives a brief details and may give you a start of a year of death in locating James's death/burial records.

 :)

Maybe someone could look it up in Anc*stry.com on here.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Thank you so much for the prompt replies  :)

Calverley Lad. I have previously looked at  http://wharfegen.org.uk/  but I was unable to confirm the dates.

dobfarm. To date I have not located probate/will for James.

I currently have subs to Ancestry.co.uk and FindMyPast.co.uk so I'm constantly searching !!! but I'm still a relative newbie and willing to learn.

Hi

HARRISON

James E

1863

Leeds West

Leeds

Yorkshire

WEST/68/307

N/A

HARRISON

James

1862

Hunslet

Leeds

Yorkshire

HUNS/40/446

N/A

This one seems likely

HARRISON

James

1862

Otley
Leeds

Yorkshire

OTLEY/17/18

The GRO gave age of death after 1866 but not before in years 1861 to 1865 in their index, so James could have died between 1861 and 1865

There are only 3 James Harrison in the Leeds/Otley area in that time slot with no age given and its means buying GRO death certificates blind

http://www.leeds.gov.uk/residents/Pages/Births-deaths-and-marriages.aspx

If you contact Leeds register office direct they will negotiate with you about what you know of James that will help them decide if the death is the correct one for you ~ ie: age-address or person present at death.

If you buy from GRO webites they will just send the death cerificate add - lib  and regardless.

Below link -For info only - (Use Leeds register office above link if you consider to buy)

Last there are a few James death/burials in Lancashiire about the right age at death

Hi there.
This post is now several years old, but maybe you still need help.

James Walker was born in 1779. I believe I found this date in a book called The Story of the Dining Fork, which is a family history of the Harrisons settling in the USA (referring the the Dining Fork river in Ohio).
He and Rachel Harrison were married May 18, 1808.
I don't have a death date for James either.

Mike & Dem bones,

There is a death for a James Walker in June quarter 1862 Leeds age 82.  This could fit in with birth year of 1779.  GRO ref is 9b/267
