I have been researching my Dads side of the family for years. I have got as far back as William Bell b1736 in Scruton, Yorkshire and he married Anne Crawshaw (born in Loversall, Yorkshire). Here I have hit a brick wall. My cousin in America and myself believe the family to have originally come from Scotland but we cannot find any connection to this and am desperate to find something to take us further back. I know William and Anne lived in loversall Loversall in Yorkshire and then Williams grand-son, Joseph Bell, came to Doveridge in Derbyshire and then the family eventuall came to Tutbury in Staffordshire.
If anyone has any information that could help me I would be so grateful
