Need to decipher an image of Lucker census 1841
« on: Monday 10 March 14 11:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi.

I wonder if anyone who has access to Ancestry can help?

I am trying to read what the occupation is for a resident in Lucker, Northumberland for 1841.  The writing is very faint.  My laptop screen is very small and I cannot enlarge the image.

The man in question is John Elliot 40 years old (born 1801), husband of Jane Elliot. He is living in Lucker village though Ancestry has it as part of Bamburgh.  The name 'Lucker' is discernable just above the name 'village'. The information is HO1107/808 12 page 18 line 16.  It is Bamburgh parish and the enumerator is 7b.

I have tried and tried to read what his occupation is. I do have a few ideas but will keep them until someone else with better eyesight can make out this man's occupation.

Thanks JA.

There is another John Elliott - my relative - in Lucker also but he is quite some distance away.

You're right, it is faint  ;D  Could it be Farm Bailiff  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
