Jones Leicester am I on the right track??

Hi there
I have been researching family tree over a few years now. My fathers side was relatively straight forward. Now I am focussing on my mums side and her fathers name is Jones. Walter Henry born Leicester 1884 died 1956 married Nellie Agnes Moss in Leicester. I know his fathers name is John Jones because its on his marraige cert. Could anyone check this out for me I think John married Maria Fox and she was born in Australia. There are so many Jones it has proved to be more challenging I am concerned I may be on the wrong track.

Looks as if there may be an interesting story here - have you seen the 1911 census? I see he didn't marry Nellie until 1937.

He seems to have married either Priscilla Farrar or Ethel Jane Hill in Leicester in Dec quarter 1905.

Thankyou for your interest. Yes Walter married Priscilla in 1905 but by 1911 was living with Nellie my Grandmother. waited 26yrs before they married wonder why? I have that birth cert which has Maria as mother. So do you think she was my ggrandmother? I am surprised that she was born in Australia! I have tried looking at passenger lists but nothing so far.

If you have Walter Henry's birth certificate with mother's maiden name as Maria Fox, it does look as if she is your ggrandmother.

I'd guess that he left Priscilla, or she left him, but they didn't divorce, so he and Nellie couldn't marry until Priscilla died.
