Thomas TACEY of Barrow-upon-Soar ?

Hi,

I am seeking the death/burial of a Thomas TACEY of Barrow upon Soar.

All I know at this time is that he married Catherine FRIER  6 June 1830;
and that Catherine remarried John HUBBARD 27 May 1849 at the Baptist Chapel, Quorndon.
Catherine died in 1871 and there is an Admon.

A tree on Ancestry claims Thomas TACEY died in 1836.
The same tree mentions a child Joseph TACEY (1836-1841)
Both Catherine & Joseph appear in the 1841 census on North Street, Barrow
Just below the household of Joice FRIER ( Catherine's mother );
and Jane BARRS who may be Joice's mother.

The FRIER family were Baptists.

Please can anyone help ?

Nothing for Thomas but if he was a mariner - he may have died at sea

The marriage between Thomas and Catherine shows witnesses as Joseph Tacey & Elizabeth Frier marriage was by Banns Thomas a bachelor and Catherine a spinster.
Cannot find any records of a death/ burial for Thomas in Barrow

The Leicester Chronicle, 30 March 1839 reported a court case where a Thomas Tacey, age 29, was transported for life. The offence was stealing 4 sheep from a field in Mountsorrel (not all that far from Barrow on Soar?)

Thomas Tacey, Hulk - Euryalus, Received from - Fortitude 14 Oct 1839, age  - 29, offence - sheep stealing, where/when convicted - Leicester 22 March 1839, sentence - life, where/when disposed of - Van Dieman's land 6 Nov 1839, single/married - married, trade - tailor, character from gaoler - connexions respectable

FamilySearch has a christening record for a Thomas Tacey, 27 Dec 1812, Barrow upon Soar, mother Sarah.

The trade "tailor" on the hulk register is puzzling. Checking the newspaper articles, Thomas was a butcher at Quorndon.

I think he is also the Thomas Tacey that stole a cow in 1831 and was sentenced to 7 years in the penitentiary. The actual sentence read "a sentence of death was recorded against him" - but this at a time when such sentences were formally recorded but commuted to transportation or imprisonment.

It does look as if this second of my missing twigs was shipped to Tasmania!

Unfortunately this does not end my FRIER loose ends.

Thomas Tacey transported 1832 was 29, he had been convicted before so transported 1832 from the newspaper
