Gloucestershire Surname Interests

My surname interests in Gloucestershire are -

  Shepherd, Bullock, Read, White -

all in the Forest of Dean area.

Arron , These name Bullock & Shepard are quite common in Gloucester on my days in cems searching for long lost relations   ;D    i have seen quite a few stone with them names on !
            Also remember a Shepard at school ! afew yrs ago now  :D

Hi Graceland,

many thanks for that information - you give me hope ;D

I am making some headway with the Bullocks but have got nowhere at all with 2nd great grandfather John Shepherd.

I did find him with his wife, Sophia ( formerly Bullock) on the 1871 census where he gives his place of birth as Wiltshire -  but after that the family disappears without trace until great grandfather Sydney Shepherd turns up alone in Lancashire on the 1891 census.  ???

I appreciate you letting me know that there are, indeed, Shepherds & Bullocks in the area.

have you found any Ernest Frank Bullock, bon in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire when you have been researching?
I am also looking for Bullock's in Gloucestershire.

can you make a connection here? The grave is at Longhope, Gloucestershire.

              Ernest Frank Bullock
             Died October 9th 1974  aged 79

                              also
           
                  Edith Marion Bullock
               Died march 30th 1989  aged 85

This information was supplied by Graceland who has been researching my Bullocks. If this is your Ernest Frank I am sure Graceland can provide a photo of the grave.

Nope, my Ernest Frank is was born in 1885.

Any Jesse and/or Charles Bullock in your research?

I have discovered, with the help of Graceland, that the surname Bullock is extremly common in Gloucestershire.

Even so I would think the christian names Ernest Frank are distinctive enough for there to be a family connection somewhere.

I would hold on to the information on the Longhope grave just in case!
