Jeremiah Lockerby
« on: Saturday 12 April 14 07:10 BST (UK) »
Hi - looking to find what happened to Jeremiah Lockerby, born 1812 in Ely,Cambridge. I have located him on the 1851 census and also from 1839-1853 in the reportings of the Old Bailey. But the family seems to have disappeared from 1861 census.
Any information would be useful.
Is there a good site for viewing his service record with the UK Police?
thanks
Dixie

There are some online trees which record his death on 15 March 1855 aged 45 at 103 Bayham Street, Camden Town, London. "Died in police service of bronchitis". Some of these trees have images of various arrest sheets

Hello and welcome to RootsChat

In 1855 March Qtr St Pancras FreeBMD lists a death of a Jeremiah Lockerley.  The image is poor and the name could easily be Lockerby.   The reference number is also difficult and could be  Vol 1b Page 11 but there could be a third number at the end of the page number.

In 1861 I think the family are living at Camden Town, St Pancras without  Jeremiah RG 9 Piece 116 Folio 27 Page 47

Hi

There are baptism record images for the children of Jeremiah and Elizabeth.1) Dennis 24 March 1854 (born 19 Jan 1837). Address given as Baynham Street. 2) All baptized 15 Feb 1858 Elizabeth, Alfred, James, John and Charles. Address Drummond Street.

In the 1861 census they are living in Bayham Street, Search for Elizabeth and you should find them.

Elizabeth Lockerby 47 Milliner
Harriet 27 Milliner b Ely
Elizabeth 18 Milliner
Alfred 16 Picture frame maker
James 13 Errand boy
