John Porter Landlord - Plume of Feathers Tewin

In 1871, John Porter, my gt gt grandfather, was recorded as the landlord of the 'Plume' in Tewin, even though he had been a farmer at Little Cutting Hill Farm ten years previously. Depressed times in agriculture, no doubt.

I have a note of him being baptised at Bennington on Sep 20th 1818. I would be grateful if someone could look up this baptismal entry and tell me who his parents were. Also look up any brothers and sisters.

Is there an indication of where his father came from (so that i might be able to go to a Records Office and take the line back further generations)? I don't want to travel all the way to Herts RO and find that I need to be in another county!!
