Joyce Willis
« on: Wednesday 16 April 14 12:04 BST (UK) »
Joyce was my aunt and she died when I was young.
I can find no trace of her birth or death.
My older sister is the only other relative I can ask and she remembers little.
Joyce died of TB in about (we think) 1954 so her birth would be around 1933. She was a resident of Woolley sanatorium although I dont know if she died there.
I think the records are secret aren't they?
I can't think of anything else I could tell you. I hope thats enough to go on.
Many thanks.

Sorry, I forgot, her parents (my grandparents) were Norman and Emma Elizabeth Willis.

Freebmd shows a birth in Q1 1931 registered in Newcastle for a Joyce Willis with motherīs maiden name Youmans. Could that be a possibility?

This looks a possible for the marriage

Marriages Dec 1919

Hearne  Emma B*  Willis  Tynemouth  10b 564
Willis  Norman  Hearne  Tynemouth  10b 564

* It is a B on the typed poage nut that could be a mistake by the registrars when sending to the GRO

Vinnerd  Annie M F  Wickett  Tynemouth  10b 564
Wickett  Francis J  Vinnerd  Tynemouth  10b 564

James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

I cannot find a birth or death of a Joyce Willis that matches

Is it possible Joyce was a nickname or that she was adopted ?

Can only find Irene, Norman and Norma with the Willis/Hearne combination. All three were registered in Tynemouth. A search of other Willis births in Tynemouth between 1920 and 1940 does not throw up any alternative spellings of Hearne or girls with a middle initial J that may have been a Joyce.

Ok,thanks for all that. I have been on 'chat' but had to leave suddenly. Not before some interesting info tho.
Seems she was 'taken in' by a family friend from birth.
I have some ideas now. There is only me and my sister left and I think she knows more than me.
I'll be talking to her later.
Many thanks to you all, and to those on chat if they pop in here. I know one of them does.
I will let you know what happens...if your interested.
