Cup Winners Medal 53rd Welsh
« on: Saturday 26 April 14 14:09 BST (UK) »
Looking through a box of assorted coins and medals which I found in my parents' home in Chirk I came across a cup winners medal for 1922-23.
The front has the Welsh Dragon with the usual motto and around the top of the rim is
inscribed 53rd (The Welsh) Division and at the bottom ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.
The back of the medal has ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL at the top of the rim and the centre is inscribed   1922-23 Winners.
Sadly the name of the owner was never inscribed. I have no idea why this came into my parents' possession and I have tried to find more about the 53rd Welsh but although there is much to read of their service in both World Wars I cannot find any mention of their post WW1 activities.
Can anyone suggest which cup final it was and whom the owner may be? Thankyou
Keith Wynne Jones

http://www.1914-1918.net/53div.htm says that after WW1 they were a territorial division.

It's not The Army FA Challenge Cup - 1922-23 winners were RASC (Training Establishment) who beat 2nd Bn Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders 1-0 after extra time!

Maybe the Territorial Army Challenge Cup?
Can't find a list of winners for that!!
2013-14 is the 93rd competition.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
