1851c name index--white
« on: Saturday 25 June 05 10:38 BST (UK) »
Hi Please could someone help with the 1851c name index to find
Ann White (widow)
c 1785 pinxton
m  1808 pinxton
 bur 1857 pinxton
She doesnt seem to be in Pinxton in 1841 -so i have been told -but husband James was bur there in 1846
The only child i know of (samuel) was b 1808 in Pinxton and his son george was b in 1832 Newton. Have also been told that neither Samuel or george are in newton in 1841
It looks as if the family are in the area so hopefully the 1851c name index will help
Many thanks mari in oz

Thanks sunflower, with the name index do you have to search each area.or does it give the names with an area number? Alfreton is very close so i was wondering if they may be there
Thanks for looking ,i appreciate it

Hi Mari

There is only one Ann with a Alfreton folio number.
2145-520-14

Ann White 68
A.F white 9

Sorry no other information given so perhaps won't help you much.

Have you tried Nottingham for the 1841 census? Pinxton is only a few miles from the Notts border.
I will check later for you and get back to you

Hi Sunflower
Thankyou . yES that could bebe the right Ann as she should be about 66 in 1851. Her christening was in 1785 and her death was in 1857 ,aged 72 years so that makes her birth year the same as the christening.  I thought If only i could find Ann in 1851  or  ann and husband James in 1841 it may give me a lead to other family members and  most important where James was born. I have had the pinxton parish registers and theres no birth for him there
Ah well it may all fall into place one day!
No i havnt tried notts
Thanks for looking

hello again

Do You know what Jame's occupation was?

I checked the 1841 census for Nottingham and found this

Kirkby Colliery
Kirkby in Ashfield
Nottingham
858-17-38

James White 55 Farmer
Ann White 55

both said NO to being born in the County of Nottingham

Hi again
Thank you so much for looking. Yes it looks as if that could be them. I dont know what Jamess occupation was but his son, grandson', grt grandson and 2x grt grandson were all farmers.   Its nice to know where they were in 1941. Looks as if James could have been born in Derbys then. Ive looked at the pr's for alfreton and pinxton so will just have to try a few more surrounding areas.
Thanks again mari in oz
