Found this in the 1841 census for South Malling

Thomas Colwell, 20, Cooper at South Street, South Malling, Lewes

and this in the 1841 for Cliffe, Lewes

Elizabeth Colwell, 77, in North Street, Lewes

Both the above were born in Sussex

Their was a family of Cowell, but non of the names matched up with your criteria.

Still looking for your Frederick and Harriett though

Not sure what the original query was but in 1851 Frederick (age 47 born Seaford) and Harriet Colwill are in Lewes with various children.  Let me know if you have not got this.

Hi again Margaret in Canada

Have been through all the 1841 census for Lewes, but not spotted any Colwell, Caldwell of Colwill ancestors other than those I have already posted.

Now, what is the betting that either Venusian or Dimps comes back with them in the next day or so - I think its odds on.

By the way
T.P - This Parish
O.T.P - Of this Parish
