Died in 1894, buried in 1882 - what the heck is going on?
« on: Monday 02 June 14 05:00 BST (UK) »
I have found an obituary for Albro Howell at Fulton Post Cards.  He died on 27 September 1894 in New York City.  He was a builder born in 1809 in New York.  These facts match the person I am looking for.  Oddly, however, his burial is recorded in the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn on 27 June 1882.  I am sure the cemetery record is the right person because his wife [Achsah Howell], his daughter [Anna Braillard Howell] and his granddaughter [Edith Braillard] are buried in the same plot.

What's going on?
Wiltshire:  Banks, Taylor

Bristol:  Banks, Duddridge, Barnard
Down:  Ennis, McGee
Wicklow:  Chapman, Pepper
Wigtownshire:  Logan, Conning
Wisconsin:  Ennis, Chapman, Logan, Ware
Maine:  Ware, Mitchell, Tarr, Davis

Hi

The Albro Howell buried at Green-Wood cemetery 27th June 1882 is  likely the 8yo son of Edwin & Eveline Howell who are in Brooklyn in the 1880 census. There is a death indexed in the New York, New York, Death Index, 1862-1948 on Ancestry for Albro Howell died 26th June 1882 age 8

Thanks.  That must be it.  I wonder where the old man is buried?  Why isn't he with the rest of the family?
