I am looking for my ancestors who were cook and head gardener at Haddon Hall , Derbyshire (as already posted on the Derbyshire site) but have no idea who they were!
I have found William Anderson, born 1793. He was my grandma's gr gr grandfather, lived in Leicester and was a Frame Work Knitter. On the 1851 census it says he was born in Leicestershire but on the 1841census that he was not so he could possibly have been born in Derbyshire. The rest of this side of my family were all born and lived in Leicestershire.
On his marriage to Mary Kenney, in 1849 in Leicester, William's father, George Anderson (deceased), had the occupation of Gardener. I looked up the witness at the wedding - James Mason, and if I have the right person, he was also a gardener from Leicestershire. Although this is probably not relevant to anything!
I am looking for any information about George Anderson - birth, marriage death, who he married and where he lived but can't find anything. I would think he was born around 1770.
Can anyone help? This seems to be the most likely person to have worked at Haddon Hall (who will not make their records available.)
