Was't she summit to do with Bellevue Zoo amusements and is Barry's the amusement place at Portrush - could she be something to do with that too?

Hi Saz

I wish I had thought of that. ::)

I remember Barry's Amusements well. They used to travel all over NI. Many a time I had a ride on the chairoplanes  - which scared me to death ;D

I wonder if she was she part of a travelling amusement business or were different members of the Barry family responsible for various static amusement arcades? Is there not a Barry's Amusements in South Wales too?

I have tried "googling" but without success!

Perhaps there is a NI resident might remember a bit more about the Barry family.

Hi Darcey
My Portrush memories are more recent - one sister, who will remain nameless, reassured me the ride only went round and round. However, once on it I discovered it also went upside down and inside out!!! I am still trying to get my "sea legs"back today - three years later!!! Moral of the story being - SISTERS TELL FIBS!!! (I love her really xx)

My Dear Niece Saz :-*,

You might Google a bit better if you had your sea legs. It seems to me you were all at sea when doing your Googling. I had no trouble finding this site.  You will note that Barry's Amusements was founded by Evelyn Chipperfield and Francesco Trufelli. The Lion Park at Dervock was owned by their daughter Louisa and Pat Stephenson.
