Missing Grandmother
« on: Sunday 15 June 14 16:33 BST (UK) »
can anyone help, it is sending me nuts! I know my grandmother was Florence Davies, born 24/12/1886 died 1942. I know she changed her name to palmer in 1911,and apparently she lives at 88 rosevale Everton,  but she never actually married my grandfather as he was already married to someone else. I can not find her on any census, has anyone got any ideas?

Hi

How do you know she changed her name in 1911- do you have more detail on that?

Have you found her death on FreeBMD? Where did it take place, and in what name? Did she have any middle names?

was she the Florence May Davies, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (nee Goadsby) christened on 11 May 1887 at St Peter, Everton?

They aren't at 88 Rosevale on the 1891 census and the christening of her (deceased) brother Edward has them at 84 Rosevale (but again not there in 1891)

She was born in Everton At 88 rosevale, another family member has her birth certificate her parents are on the 1901 census as living in rosevale Everton, she was born in 1886, she wasn't living with her parents in 1901, I have checked all the other family members on both sides and she isn't living with them either, I know when she died as my mother registered her death, she died in Liverpool, I got the name change from another family tree, her and my grandfathers first child (he was Thomas palmer )was born in 1912 at 223 Breck Road, Liverpool. I know masses about her, but it annoys me so much that she does not appear on the 1901 census or the 1911 census, I found Thomas on the 1911 census and she is not living with him then.

When your grandfather died at 223 Breck Road 16 July 1933 Administration (with Will) 10 August to Florence May Davies, spinster.  Doesn't sound like her name name change to Palmer was official.

Yes, I think she probably just started calling herself Palmer, it is all a mystery really, Thomas's wife may Ann fair, just disappeared off the radar, I think I found her working as a servant on the 1901 census, but their children all but one was living with Thomas elsewhere. He the. Went on to have 7 children with Florence.
