*COMPLETED* Allerton Cemetery Liverpool
« on: Wednesday 18 June 14 10:13 BST (UK) »
Hi there Rootschatters,

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.  I have found a burial record online for my 2xG Grandmother - Louisa Walls, she died in 1923 and was buried in Allerton Cemetery, Liverpool.  I have the cemetery reference - CEM 5/1/2, Page 291, Entry no. 14739, Year 1923.  I have also found a map of the cemetery with the various sections plotted.  Does anyone know how I might find in which section she is buried.  I hope to visit in a couple of weeks time.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

All the best,
Sue    :)

Cemetery office phone no to make enquiries is 0151 233 3004.
If you give them a ring, you should be able to find out if your info lets them identify the position of the grave.
They can be very helpful and will send out a map with the exact position and distance from paths etc if you don't know where it is.

Thanks much appreciated.
I've got dozens of relatives buried there and think the usual way to identify graves is by section number and grave number. If the info you have isn't enough, they are likely to want you to pay for a search. However, you can get the same details from film in the Liverpool record office withput having to pay anything.

Hello Bagpuss
There is a web site which has some transcriptions of headstones at Allerton Cemetery, which I have used many times, but cannot open it this afternoon.  Perhaps it has been affected by Ancestry's recent problems.

Here is the address, which may help you:

You should find options of searching by name etc, and that will give the grave reference.

Sorry, wrong address shown yesterday.  This should be correct but still not accessible this morning.
