PAF
« on: Thursday 19 June 14 17:41 BST (UK) »
My Paf Prog .... is up the creek without a paddle.... I discovered earlier that -- somehow it had at least 4 of each person under different RIN's  how that happened I dont know.

I was going to attempt to sort it.. But it didnt seem to be a problem when printing out a specific report, so didnt really bother.  Do intend to update to a new Database when I have found the right one this year anyway.

BUT I just opened it up first time in a week or so.. and... It has decided to show me the different parents and different marriages... crazy.  will add snip.
What to do!!!!!! :( ::)

Hi Xin

What happens if you list them in RIN order, is it an exact duplication x4   :-\

Hello, Yes have an earlier back up... maybe should check to see if the same problem on that.  Trouble is this is the latest one with new additions.

Here is a snip of the Rin list when doing an individual search by name and birthdate.

Can you not use the match/merge tool, then it will link both numbers and become just the one person.

I have thought about that?   but with so many robert sutherlands although with various birthdates and places I am a little scared it may confuse them and mix them up.

So what I should do when I feel brave enough is to do a backup onto a external hard drive :) hide it so the laptop cant see what I am doing :)  (cos I am convinced it checks up on me :) :)  ;D)
Then do a match and merge ... then compare them working from seperate machines..

That will sort it/me out  maybe ...  :-\ ??? ::)   ;D

Hopefully it will work for you. I've had to do this when I discovered that cousins had married and another time when a groom had married his late wife's sister.
Yes, be careful and back up first.
Good luck.  :)
