Hi Kojak,
Sorry for pushing into this post but I can't seem to respond to your private message re: the Staffords. In short, the answer is I don't know. I've just started my research and my family tree currently looks more like a twig! My family is not from New Ross itself but about 20 mins drive away - have you any idea if your connection is to the town or the hinterland? Stafford is a pretty a common name in these parts which makes things tricky. We had two branches of the one family down the end of our lane and another bunch just a stone's throw away!
From what I do know of my family (a LOT of Johns and Thomases), the forenames would suggest that they might not be connected but I've nothing more than guesswork to base that assumption on so you never know.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

If Kojak has sent you a Personal Message, likely the reason you weren't able to respond is that as a new member, you PM service is not activated until you have made 3 posts on the main boards.
