1841, E Riding, Yorkshire, Howden?, John HARRISON
« on: Monday 27 June 05 04:07 BST (UK) »
Being from the US, I'm not quite sure which censuses are available to search.  I have results from 1851 and 1861 for this family.  They lived in Skiff Lane in Holme-Upon-Spaulding-Moor.  I'd appreciate any censuses before that date.
Thank you!

Marilyn

Hi Marilyn

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Hello Marilyn

1841 Census Holme Upon Spalding Moor HO107/1218/21  page 5b
Sciff Lane
John Harrison  45  ag lab
Mary      "       40
Hannah  "        20
Thomas  "        20
Mary      "        15
Sarah     "        13
John       "        11
William    "         7
James    "          4
George   "          1 month
All born in Yorkshire.
In the 1841 census the ages over 15 were rounded down to be divisible by 5, eg John could have been between 45 and 49.
No other details
Sciff and Thomas are very faint on my copy, so are our best interpretations.

The census was started in 1801 and then every ten years but were not kept nationally until 1841, some early ones still survive in local archives. Someone reading this may be able to say if the ones you require are available.

I bought a car off a man at Holme on Spalding Moor in the 1950,s

Hi Marilyn

I have a sneaky feeling that some way back when, that you and I are related in a very distant way, but I am having great difficulty proving the link to the Falkingham Branch.  I have Thomas/William/Mary/Sarah/Abraham Harrisons in my family tree going back to Hive/Giberdyke/Eastrington as far back as 1796.  You mention William (c1835) being the possible future brother in law to to your Hannah.  I cannot prove the link and just feel it's just a matter of time before I link your Branch to mine.  Hope your search is proving fruitfull. All the best in your search.
