William Pollock - Pennsylvania 1804-1853
« on: Thursday 03 July 14 15:12 BST (UK) »
I am hoping to find more information on this man's family, parents, siblings or when he immigrated.  There are four generations of descendants the all have the name William Roland Pollock and this man's middle name might have been Roland as well.  I have that he was born in Milton, Northumberland, PA and married Sarah Ann Johnson in 1835.  Their children were Harriett born 1837, James born 1838, William Rolland born 1840, Samuel born 1842, Peter born 1845, and David born 1848.

The family converted to the Mormon faith and was living in Iowa on the 1850 Census.  Ultimately they immigrated to Utah.  Again any information that could direct me further back in his family or immigration information would be welcomed.  We have been at a stand still for sometime.

Seems to be many Pollock families in Milton Northumberland around that time. The famous James Pollock (District Attorney and President Judge of the Eighth Judicial District of Pennsylvania) was born 1810 to the son of Scotch-Irish Presbyterian parents but couldn't find a link to William in that family. No luck with immigration records either so far.

It appears that Sarah and some of the children moved back to Philadelphia after Wm's death (?)
Could she have had relatives there?

1850 census:

1860 census:

She next appears in the 1880 census in Utah with 2 sons:

Thank you for your help.  I hadn't noticed the 1860 Census that had their return to PA

Just looked in the Philly directories:

1855:
Pollock, Sarah, 106 Penn
1858:
Pollock, Sarah A., 2 Penn (K) [Kensington]
1859:
Pollock, Sarah Ann, 1043 Penn
1860:
Pollock, Sarah A, wid William, 1043 N [North] Del Av
1861:
Pollock, Sarah Ann, widow r Hancock n[near] Jefferson

There are more entries for a Sarah, but she is the widow of Thomas.
