PLEASE HELP ME FIND MARY ANN WHARMBY
« on: Friday 04 July 14 10:24 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Please can someone help me find a relative, Mary Ann Wharmby, who was born to Abraham Wharmby circa 1864. I have a hunch that the mother may have been a Sarah??

I have found Mary Ann and Abraham on a census, which lists Mansfield as place of birth but so far I haven't found the birth record to enable me to track down the birth certificate. I thought I was doing well but I know there are people on here that will be able to help me further so that is my plea.

Any help and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Looks like Abraham may have remarried by 1881

Sutton in Ashfield
Abraham 37 Framesmith
Sarah  42
Mary A 15
Ann 5

All bn Sutton in Ashfield

Abraham Wakefield Wharmby marries Sarah Egglestone Plant in 1875, Mansfield Reg district (covers Sutton in Ashfield)

I cant see an earlier marriage to Ann.
Maybe they never married?

Hi Liz,

That's the one I found and yes I forgot about Ann.

I just can't find Mary's birth in Mansfield, I wondered if I was lookng in the wrong place as there is a birth in Basford, but that's a bit far out of Mansfield for it to be listed, unless she was born there but moved to Sutton in Ashfield and Basford was part of the Mansfield District.

I'm so confused?  ???

Have you found a marriage for Abraham to Ann in the 1860s?  If the marriage postdated Mary Ann's birth, or if Abraham and Ann did not marry at all, then the registration of Mary Ann's birth is likely to be in Ann's maiden name.

Possible marriage for Abraham to Sarah here in 1875:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/2DPZ-G5L
Ayr: Barnes, Wylie
Caithness: MacGregor
Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)
Hants: Stares (Wickham)
Lincs: Maw, Jackson (Epworth, Belton)
London: Pierce
Suffolk: Markham (Framlingham)
Surrey: Gosling (Richmond)
Wilts: Matthews, Tarrant (Calne, Preshute)
Worcs: Milward (Redditch)
Yorks: Beaumont, Crook, Moore, Styring (Huddersfield); Middleton (Church Fenton); Exley, Gelder (High Hoyland); Barnes, Birchinall (Sheffield); Kenyon, Wood (Cumberworth/Denby Dale)

If they never married. Mary Ann, may be registered under her mothers maiden name
