Thomas Hall of Hartley Wintney
« on: Monday 07 July 14 21:22 BST (UK) »
I would appreciate any help in finding the perants of one Thomas Hall.
In the 1851 census, he was living in Heckfield, Hants, aged 50 and was said to have been born in Hartley Wintney.
I have found a possible candidate Thomas Hall, christened in that town on 07/04/1799, with a father James Hall.

Best bet is to look at witnesses to any marriage, and what he named his kids if he had any.

Why shouldn't the 1799 baptism be correct?
Have you found an early death to rule it out?

There is another Baptism at Hartley Wintney
11APR1802 THOMAS HALL s/o JOHN & MARY

The only Marriage I can find for a Thomas and Mary is at Rotherwick which is adjacent to Heckfield and Hartley Wintney
14NOV1833 THOMAS HALL to MARY GUILFORD   botp

There is no obvious Burial for a Thomas Hall at HW 1798 to 1840

May help you slightly

Many thanks for the kind responses, and my apologies for taking so long to reply. The reason that I was unsure about the 1799 Thomas Hall was because he had so many siblings at such short intervals, that I thought that, although biologically possible, it was perhaps unlikely, so there may have been more than one James Hall fathering children in H. Whitney parish.
On Freesearch, some children had just the father named as James, and others both the father James and the mother Mary, so it was impossible to be certain of the parentage.

What is "Freesearch"?

If it's familysearch you may be looking at two sources for the same event.
