  Hello Joe & Tanja
Thank you both for the warm welcome to RootsChat.
Thank you for the information and trouble that you went to  to, for me.  I have a photostat copy of the 1861 census pages of the family at Vernon Street.  Lower Thrift Str that appears in the 1881 census is the next street over where the family must have moved to.  I also received a reply from Wootton Hall Park NRO for Thomas Arnsby born 1784  married to Mary 1775
Children : Anne born       12 july 1806  Woodford Northampton
                  John  b           12 july  1813     "                "
                  Benjamin  b      5 may 1815     "                "
                  Mary Anne b     5  oct  1817     "                "
                  Elizabeth  b                 1820     "               "
                  Ann          b       27 oct 1822     "               "
The Records Officer said there was a baby born 1810 but couldn't read the name. If the baby was named Thomas he doesn't fit. This also appears in Family Tree Maker but no Thomas b 1826. There is a possibilty he was born after Ann b 1822
Thomas b 1784 was a Shop Keeper Woodford 1820
                                 a Coal Dealer                    1851
                                    Retired  Pauper              1861
Tanja, you seemed very confident that Thomas b 1826 was in this family, from  information that you must have. Is there
anyway of confirming this. This has become a brick wall for me.
My great grandfather William that appeared second of the children of the1861 census, came to Sydney on the ship TEXAN
in 1884. My two cousins plus children of one, are the only
are the only Arnsbys in New South Wale and probably Australia. So, I am sitting on the edge of my for some good news.
Thank you once again for yours efforts.
 Regards
  John

Hi John,

I'm very sorry if I sounded as though I knew this family !
Blame it on my bad English - I think I had misunderstood your post mentioning 'children below', assuming that you knew Thomas (2) was Thomas (1)'s son.

I'm afraid I don't know the lonk between the 2 men at all...

Do I understand that young Thomas's father isn't mentioned on the marriage certificate?

I suggest you post for a 1841 Census look-up to check if you find these people all together.

Very sorry for confusing you earlier.

Tanja

Hi Tanja

Sorry about the confusion. The " children below" was Thomas
Arnsby (2) b 1826 was the father.

Thomas Arnsby (1)  Cottager was the father of Thomas Arnsby
(2)  born 1826 Woodford Northampton.
I don't know who the mother was or whether (2) had any
brothers or sisters.

You don't have to apologise to me. I'm not a very good letter writer, and really appreciate the  help that you provided.
Thank you very much for all that you have done for me.

I have posted another note for the 1841 census as you advised,  which has just been replied, with no luck.

Thanks once again
Regards
John
