George Pearson
« on: Saturday 12 July 14 12:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am currently researching the Kirkheaton war memorial and we are trying to find a George Pearson whose army records have him living with his wife Elizabeth Ann Pearson in Lascelles Hall, Kirkheaton, Yorkshire but it lists his father as David Pearson (dead) and it gives a sister Ethel Pearson and it looks like the address it St. Johns London.
I have tried everything but I cannot find them. I Have found a George Pearson born 1891 in Islington and an Ethel Linda Pearson born 1891 Islington.
We think they could have been orphaned and he was sent up here to work in the mills or quarries. Need all the help we can get with this, any help with this person would be greatfully received. He is one of the last ones we have to find and the deadline for our centenary exhibition is the 4th August.

Regards

Could the address on the Army record be 1 Lower Charles Street  :-\
RG13/255 f24 p40.  The next census has an Ethel Pearson with this family .

This is written alongside St John St on the record

Hi

The early record gives his mother as dead and child as Marion E. Pearson so I was assuming the mother and child was his wife and daughter.
It gave Marion E. born 25 September 1913 and the GRO gives mothers maiden name as Armitage.
I thought of that but his fathers address was St. Johns, I do not know the area is there a Charles Street in St. Johns?

Hi

Just found the 1911 census entry for Ethel Pearson looks good but it gives her as sister but the age gape looks wrong.
I might have found her in the 1901 census she is 13 living with widow mother Emily, 52 and brothers Walter, 15 and George 7. (George missed of the index so does not show up.) they are living at 10, Parkfield Street, Islington is this in the right area for St. Johns.
Cannot find them in any of the other census's.

St John's is not a place in London; are you sure it does not say St John St as Rosie suggested?

This would be consistent with Islington, as would Parkfield St.  Both St John St and Parkfield St are close to the Angel, Islington.

I have not been able to find the Army record from the information you have given.  What age was given for George on the Army record, and when did he die?

Hi

Hi

Yes it could be St John St.

Just been looking on Ancestry and I think I might have the answer.
Just contacted someone that might hold the key.
From the 1911 census I look up the Whiting marriage and it gave his wife as an Ive's so looked for her and found a tree with the information that her mother Emily was widow and then married a David Pearson who died in 1897. She died in 1902 which would have left George an orphan which goes with one of my fellow researches theory that he was sent up here to work.
