Are you sure about your 1881 information. When I looked for Richard born 1878 in Adlington he came up with father Richard.

Just a Possibility -   (this has happened in my family tree) ...Richard  dies and Jane marries his brother William by 1881 ??...it wasn`t uncommon ..
added...I think putting William as the head has been a typo mistake because Nuttall65 has another thread asking about Richard Nuttall burial in 1904 ...

It appears that 'William' should read Richard  :)

Yes, I have found them. Not that I was looking for them.
I am in Rangiora New Zealand
I am tidying up my genealogy, and at the moment working Richard Nuttall who was born in Adlington. Just for fun I Googled Nuttall and Adlington, and found your query.
Richard and Jane, and three sons, Thomas, Richard, and James Henry arrived in Canterbury, New Zealand, on the "Taranaki" 21 October 1883.
I can tell you more about the younger Richard, as he married into one of my families.
Regards
Jean
