Llanberis - Willams
« on: Tuesday 28 June 05 01:01 BST (UK) »
Just came back from funeral in Llanberis could anyone do a look-up for me.
The Family in question? are

Head - Richard Williams (apparently a Train Driver)
Wife - Elizabeth (nee Roberts)

Siblings-

Elizabeth, Thomas, Robin (or Robyn), Jack (or Jackie), Eleanor and Anne (Nancy). Nancy passed away last weekend aged 82 so her year of birth 1923 so unlikely to turn up on any census (as of yet) Elizabeth was definitely the eldest.

The family home was Goodman Street, Llanberis, So I would appreciate any information regarding this Lot

Realistically we are looking at a time frame for the children of approx 1910 - 1923, assuming 2 years between each child, and that none others had died young.

That would give a date for the marriage of 1908-1912 ish.

Assuming Richard was 25 when he married and Elizabeth 21 ,that would give DoB for Richard of 1885 ish and Elizabeth 1890.

The chances of finding an Elizabeth Roberts without knowing where she was born, are extremely slim.

Richard will be on the 91 and 1901 census, but aged about 15, the chances of him being a train driver at that age are slim. Would he have been a driver in the quarries?

Your best bet would be the electoral register between 1915 and 1920.

In my tree I have 3 Richard Williams who marry Elizabeths, and I'm still trying to puzzle out which marriage certs to order.

Without more concrete info, there's not really much we can do.

Sorry,

D

I knew this would be a long shot working on what i know place of birth looks likly to be Llanberis for Elizabeth Roberts.

Richard Williams was a train driver on the Caernarfon to Llanberis Line (Line Closed Approx 1968) as his grandson remembers riding the plate with him. All the children and the majority of there Grandchildren were born in Llanberis. Another story i heard over the weekend was some of the relations are buried in Penygroes.

So thanks for the reply if either comes up with something I'll let you know.

P.s Where did you get your flag pictures

They're flying in my garden :-)

Seriously though, I took the photos, touched them up somewhat and joined them together.

This is a bit of a long shot considering the age of these posts but I'm researching this family and wondered if anybody has any info yet on Richard and Elizabeth?

I can't add much to what has already been given other than the family were at Goodman Street in 1921 when daughter Eleanor was born (4th Jan 1921) and still there when Eleanor married in 1942.

On the marriage cert for Eleanor it states that Richard was a Railway Locomotive Fireman, and I've been told that he died in an accident at work whilst decoupling two carriages.  No idea when.

If anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated.

Hi Jet,

Welcome to RootsChat.

Always worth replying to the older posts, but sadly we have not been able to get your message to Welsh Scotsman  :'( his emails address is no longer working so the message has bounced back to me.
I have tried googling his real names/town/family names etc but sorry I could not find him.

Regards

Sarah :)

Thanks Sarah.

I'm thinking it might be an idea to start a new thread anyway in case anyone else has info on the family.  I thought maybe adding a post to this thread would put it back to the top of the list of latest posts to bring attention to it but I don't think that's the case.

Thanks again.  :)
