Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

I can see 3 births for John Hodgkiss, in Wolverhampton, in 1882!

The best way to resolve your problem would be to buy the marriage certificate, where his father will be named.

Having said that, this possibility is on the 1891 census:
Class: RG12; Piece: 2233; Folio: 112; Page: 22
139 Alma Road, Wolverhampton

Hodgkiss, Thomas  Head  M  48  Horse Dealer  b Wolverhampton
Hodgkiss, Priscilla  Wife  F  30  b Wolverhampton
Hodgkiss, Joseph  Son  M  9  Scholar b Wolverhampton
Hodgkiss, John  Son  M  8  Scholar  b Wolverhampton

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

My suggestion would be to purchase the marriage certificate for John/Jack and Lucy Ann.  This will give you his father's name, which should help in searching through the census returns to find the correct family and assist in tracing siblings.

If you do decided to purchase the certificate, then go direct to the General Register Office (GRO) which you can do on-line at a cost of £9.25 and the certificate will be sent to you by post.  Other sites may offer their services, but the cost will be much more.  You may, of course, already know about this, but I thought I would warn you of the alternatives.  ;)

Good luck
