Sidney Richard Vellacott Thorne,
Killed in Action; first day of Battle of Flers–Courcelette, Somme. He has no known grave and is remembered at THIEPVAL MEMORIAL: Pier 7 D and Face 8 D
He was a Lance Corporal with the 3rd battalion Coldstream guards, regimental number 10660 (medal record only says Pte). His Military Will leaves all his effects to his mother, of the Corner House, Timberscombe.
Sidney was my grand uncle, a fellow sibling also died whilst enlisted.
