Michael Atkinson died 8 june 1872 sleetburn colliery mining accident - death certificate mentions inquest held but can find no info on internet - can anyone help thankyou

his son george also died there in 1925 mentions newspaper article in durham advertiser 13 march does anyone have access

Durham CountyRecord Office might hold a copy of the Inquest file, if it has survived; they should also be able to advise which local newspapers might have reported the Inquest or the accident.

Michael ATKINSON, a shaftman, died at New Brancepeth (Sleetburn) Colliery on 08-Jun-1872, aged 35.

Short details of the cause of his death are shown in the Durham Mining Museum website at www.dmm.org.uk

Thanks for all the replies - I have managed to find this info previously - was looking for inquest related info which was mentioned on death certificate will probably have to contact durham records
