William Charles Green was the son of William Green and his wife Mary Maria Price, of Tewkesbury. He was a gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery, unit B anti-aircraft battalion, service number 158423. He died on 21st March 1918, aged 21. He is buried at the Anzac Cemetery, Sailly-Sur-La-Lys. His name is also on the Tewkesbury War Memorial, and on the memorial in Tewkesbury Abbey.

He was engaged to be married when he was killed.
