Where would they be buried?
« on: Sunday 10 August 14 16:28 BST (UK) »
Could anyone tell me where my ancestors would be buried if they lived in the Greengate area around 1900-1911 & also Brindle Heath area 1900 - 1925. There doesn't seem to be many churches with graveyards then. Greengate area favoured St Stephens Church & St Mathias & Brindle Heath was St Annes or St Thomas pendleton.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi sossle.
Both those two locations are in Salford Lancashire, there were two cemeteries.
Weaste Cemetery I believe was opened about 1857 and Agecroft Cemetery was opened about 1903, the records for both are held at Agecroft Cemetery Office. Hope this helps.
Regards Dave.

Hi Sue,

Don't know if it will be any help to you but
there are some on line records for Weaste Cemetery on the Cemsearch website.

Should have added..........
It is only an index of names and how many people are in the grave but if you find the surname that you are looking for you can order the record

Hi Eric,
Sorry I can't answer your question, I've never had to send for a report.
It does say they will send all available information and I assume that it would contain death and burial dates for all of the people in that particular grave.
There is a forum on the home page perhaps that will help :)

Hi Rolnora

I would assume that it would be a transcript of the gravestones, but I may be wrong. I wouldn't imagine it to be the actual burial records.

I just had a look and found 11 entries on 2 graves for a particular surname and I was wondering  what I might expect for my £6.

If I only get names, ages and dates of death for 11, I'd say that's good value for £6-assuming they are the right people, ha.

Thanks anyway, Eric
