McDermott Buildings

Can anyone remember a block of flats called 'McDermott Buildings'.  They were apparently a block of flats in Newfield, Co. Durham, given this name because so many of the McDermott families lived there.  The properties were demolished in the 60's and the land is now a car park so I have been told.  I would like to know who owned these flats if it's possible.  I have asked the Durham authorities who couldn't help as I didn't know the correct address.
