Thanks so much.
This is what I have - A Dorothy Vigne gave birth to a daughter at the Mission of Hope 54 Leigham Court Road, Streatham in 1924. She was supposedly 38 at the time which would make her born approx 1886. I have searched the birth registers at FRC and cannot locate a match. The only matc h I have is Dorothy Helen Vigne as you have found. She was a domestic at The Bungalow, Lyons Gate, Cerne Abbas which is in Devon (I have posted on this site some time ago without any success). She returned there apparently after have the baby and letters were sent to the Mission of Hope via a Mrs Edwards. Two possibilities I am considering are: that Dorothy was widowed and used her maiden name on the birth record (she married Arthur Walker in 1916) and put the incorrect age - or - did Dorothy marry a Vigne prior to the birth and was possibly widowed (this would explain why I cannot find a birth record. I know you have to turn detective but I am meeting these people from America (travelling at the moment) at the Weekend and would love to give them a clue.
Any help would be very gratefully appreciated.
Janet
