Completed: Children of Joseph Steele and Sarah E Jenkinson of Great Clifton
« on: Wednesday 03 September 14 15:02 BST (UK) »
Afternoon

Joseph Steele was living with his wife Sarah Elizabeth Steele in Great Clifton 1911

They married in 1902 and have had five children between 1902 and 1911.

Two have died and I was wondering if someone could help me find their names, hopefully without the need to purchase certificates

Checking the birth and death records, this are the four possibilities

John Stranger Steele, born June 1904 - died June 1905
Isaac Steele, born June 1907 - died March 1908
Isaac Dykes Steele, born December 1909 - died June 1910
Thomas Steele, born March 1911 - died March 1911

There is a possibility that Isaac, born in 1907 could be one of them, since he was born the same month as Joseph William Steele, born in June 1907.

any help in finding out which of them are the two deceased children will be appreciated

my thanks

I  don't think  Isaac  is   one of the children ,    if he  was a  twin   to Joseph William the   reference  numbers would  be the  same

Births Jun 1907

STEELE  Isaac     Cockermouth  10b 571
STEELE  Isaac     Cockermouth  10b 671

STEELE  Joseph William     Cockermouth  10b 687

Have you tried searching for Steele marriages that may have the spouse name as Stanger or Dykes, they may give a clue if you look at them in 1911.  :-\

I cannot find a Steele marrying a Stranger or Dykes on my heritage and it would take far too long to look through free bmd

I cannot find a Steele marrying a Stranger

If you look at the birth for John 'Stanger' Steele you will see that it is Stanger not Stranger

freebmd has also mistranscribed his middle name on the death - you can view the GRO index page on that site

Just to remind you, that it is against the rules of RootsChat to transcribe the 1911 Census. Reply 2 on the link below :-

RootsChat position is very clear: RootsChat cannot condone the flouting of the terms and conditions of the subscription sites which host the 1911 census images.

You will need to remove the info you have transcribed.

Why would it take a long time on freebmd, you just need to put Steele in the surname box and Stanger /Dykes in the spouse name box with an end date of around 1911

If you are going through each line thoroughly as you research - you would know that there is a Dykes Connection. Who is Sarah Elizabeth Jenkinson the daughter of ?  What was her mothers maiden name ? What is the surname of her grandfather who is living with the family on the 1891 census  ???
