PERRY, KEEN, BROWN in Oxford 1800's
« on: Saturday 17 July 04 07:59 BST (UK) »
Hello,  :)
Can anyone help please with one or all of the above? I know that purchasing certificates would be the way to go in some cases, but that isn't an option for me at present.

Ada Maud BROWN b. Mar qtr 1885 Oxford. 3a 772 - can't find where she might have been in the 1891 Census and don't know her parents.

John PERRY ch.30 Jan 1853 Holywell, Oxford.  Sarah KEEN b.Jun qtr.1854 Brewery Street, Oxford. Marriage not yet found.

Sarah KEEN b.Jun qtr.1854 3a 522 Brewery Street, Oxford. Need to find who her father was. She is the illegitimate daughter of Eliza Keen.

Any help at all with these would be appreciated.

Thanks, OzzieJoan

:'( Toby, I'm mortified. I was just going through my Inbox to weed out old and unwanted e-mails when I came across the link to your reply to my above topic back at the beginning of January. So sorry.

Anyway, concerning the BROWN family. Could you please give me an address for them, and where they were born.

The PERRY family information I already have, thanks. But what I need is a marriage for John PERRY and Sarah KEEN probably around 1875 in Oxford.

Thanks again,
OzzieJoan

Hi OzzieJoan,

I know your first posting was a while back, but I'm reasonably new to Rootschat and when I came across your post I thought we may have some names in common.

Whilst searching last week I found my GG Grandfathers name of John Thomas and with a bit of digging around, found he was probably married to an Eliza Thomas nee KEEN. Marriage Qtr June 1855 Headington 3a 688.

In 1881 John Thomas was down as a General Labourer, His family were listed as:-
Eliza Thomas abt 1833 Wife
James Thomas abt 1856
John Thomas abt 1859
Eliza Thomas abt 1862
William Thomas abt 1864
Annie Thomas abt 1870
George Thomas  abt 1872
Joseph Thomas abt 1874

Their address was Magdn Road (may be short for Magdalen) Cowley, Oxfordshire.

It appears that at that time my G Grandfather, Benjamin Thomas who was abt 13 yrs in 1881 was boarding at the Clifton Certified Industrial School and that was why he was missing from the list. Also by this time Sarah was not mentioned either obviously due to her marriage.

Sorry if this duplicates any info you already have. If you have more info on Eliza Thomas nee KEEN I would love to hear it.

Regards

Pipkim
