Anyone know any information on Aaron James and Lucy Smith of Pontefract?
« on: Tuesday 23 September 14 23:48 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I would like to hear from anyone who as any information Aaron James born 1890 of Staffordshire  who married Lucy Smith of Pontefract 1911. Had a son called Aaron James born 19/5/1911. Unfortunately Lucy died I believe in 1912 and have been informed  by my mother, his grandma Smith brought Aaron up. The Smith name was then added to his name Aaron James Smith. Aaron James Smith married Mary Walker in December 1930.  There is another marriage to a Leah Kennedy and Aaron James of Pontefract  1914 don't know if this is the same one.

Hope someone out there, can help me

Kind Regards

Amanda

Hi

The 1911 marriage cert will show Aaron's fathers name and occupation.  If Aaron re-married in 1914 - those details should be the same on the 1914 marriage cert

The Lucy James death in Pontefract 1912 was only 17 - is that likely to be your Lucy?

Hi there,

I think this is the Lucy James I am looking for.  Don't know her parent names though.  My mother said the Aaron James born in May 1911 was her father and that his grandma Smith brought him and the Smith name was added to his name. The James family were not happy with this. Just wondered it anyone out there is linked?

Would love to hear from you  ::)

Kind Regards

Hi

There are too many Lucy Smith's on the 1901/1911 censuses to determine which one is yours so you would need to buy a copy of the 1911 marriage cert which will give you her age and her fathers name and occupation

With that info - it may be more possible to trace her in 1901

The Pontefract registration district covered many areas and the 1901 shows no trace for a Lucy Smith b 1892-1896 Pontefract

On the same parish record entry there is a burial at the same church on 11.1.1913 for a 21 days old George James of 52 Pottery St

Looking up his birth on freebmd - mothers maiden name was Smith

He was born approx 20th Dec- it looks as though he could be Lucy's child and she died in childbirth

Hi.

I know Leah Kennedy had a sister violet married Solomon James and Leah James neeKennedy was a witness. Do you happen to have a photo of aaron James?  Aaron James married his first wife Lucy Smith in 1911 who had a son May 1911 Aaron a James my great grandfather  he died in 1959. They had a second son George James 1912. I haven't got the death certificate for Lucy but I know she was buried 24/12/1912 whitwood mere church. Aaron James married Leah Kennedy in 1913 and appeared to have disowned his first child. I was informed by my mother that his grandmother brought him up. I found out that his father aaron James died in 1968 in pontefract and never really knew his family to his first wife.  I would be interested to hear if you have any information re aaron

Kind regards
