Born in Wantage  one of 4 soldier sons of James and Harriett McMullin. He enlisted in Southall and served in E Surrey Regiment. He was invalided out of army twice First joined Oxfordshire & Buckingharshire Light Infantry He was attested in Oxford and discharged from the Royal Victoria Hospital Netley being medically unfit for further service.(Heart problem)
then he tried to join the Royal Fusiliers He was attested 6 Sep 1914 in Houslow and was discharged in Dover as 'Not being likely to become an efficient soldier' because he was 'practically blind in right eye'. He served 46 days.
Finally he joined the 6th Bn., The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regt.) Labo ur Corps. He was awarded the Victory and British medals.killed in action 22 may 1918 Crouy-sur-Somme, Somme, He left four children aged 4 ,3,2 and the last being born Just after his death.
He was a brother of my husband's Grandfather
