Census ?
« on: Thursday 09 October 14 14:46 BST (UK) »
Hello , Is there a way of looking at any Jones family living in Chorlton On Medlock and maybe Hulme on censuses ?  Ideally I would just like to see who was living in that area , it may lead to something
Regards
Alan

Do you have a subscription to one of the sites such as Ancestry or FindMyPast? As Jones is such a common name there may be numerous families of that name in those areas in the censuses. You can just search using surname and place of birth and/or place where they were living.

Is there any specific census you are interested in?

Did you specify exact matches only?

Although I no longer have a subscription, I tend to use FindMyPast for this kind of data search!
The indexes are free - you only have to pay to look at the records or transcripts! ;D

ps . on Ancestry 1911

As KGarrad says, you need to tick the 'exact matches' box on Ancestry. You can reduce the number of results by filling in both place of birth and place of residence if/where known.

The trouble with searching by place of birth or place of residence is that these can vary through the censuses.
