Is Traves her maiden name?

I can see:
Births, June qtr 1920
Christchurch district (Hampshire)     vol 2b, page 1457
Traves, Millicent M     Mother's Maiden Name: Painter

Marriage, September qtr 1939
Bournemouth district      vol 2b, page 3179
Traves, Millicent M
Pedder, Frank

There are children born in 1944 and 1947 - but as they may still be alive, I'll leave you to find them on FreeBMD?

According to a tree on Ancestry:

Death, February 1991
Bourne district (Lincolnshire)     vol 7, page 1525
Cooper, Millicent May
Birth date: 19th May 1920
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Following on from what has been found, I see that M. M. Cooper was at 26 Penfold Rd, Worthing in the 1980-1984 telephone directories.

Arthur and Dora had another registered the same quarter they married in 1914, so 10 in total !

Can't find Arthur in 1901, he isn't with parent Joseph and Mary in Pokesdown.

Don't see an earlier marriage for Arthur either, so wonder why he and Dora Beatrice didn't marry before 1914.

Where does the Cooper surname come from? I can't see a marriage for a widowed Millicent Pedder (nee Traves) to a Mr Cooper

I couldn't find a death for Millicent Pedder?
There are 2 trees on Ancestry that have her death as Cooper - but no documentation?!

I was hoping for confirmation from OP before delving any deeper ;D ;D

FRancis Pedder died (according to the trees) 1994 in Rochdale, so we may be looking for a divorce?

The trees also suggest that Frank/Francis Pedder outlived her - perhaps she did not remarry but informally took a Mr Cooper's name?

Oh yes I see, so possibly Millicent and Frank split up and she later lived with Mr Cooper and the informant on her death registration thought they were married. That scenario would fit with Frank outliving her. The Frank who died in Rochdale would be the right sort of age to marry a woman born in 1920. The OP would need to get marriage cert to confirm his father was Fred Pedder (who married Sarah Grimshaw)
